What You Should Know About Ulcerative Colitis

What You Should Know About Ulcerative Colitis

What is Ulcerative Colitis?

Ulcerative Colitis (U.C.) is an auto-immune disorder, where one’s immune response mistakenly attacks the lining of the Large Intestine.

What are the signs and symptoms?

  1. Bleeding
  2. Abdominal pain
  3. Weight loss

How is U.C. treated?

There are pills, enemas, suppositories and shots. The treatment options are multiple and varied to find a medicine, or a combination that works for you.

How do I find the best doctor?

UC is a Chronic Disease. You may be lucky and go into remission, but most struggle on and off with recurrences and flare-ups. There is no one magical treatment, nor one doctor who has the ‘secret’ for success.

If you keep shopping around for a better doctor, no one doctor can get to know you well enough to really help.

It is best, to chose someone with a good reputation, good on-line comments, and stick with them.

Remember, there is nothing you did to get U.C., nor could have done to prevent it.
